The first thing that happened to make our bowls was shape the clay. Then you split the clay into three pieces. Once you split your clay with the biggest piece you make your bowl. When you are done then you take a smaller piece and make a foot on the bottom of your bowl. Then with the third piece make a lip for your bowl. A lip is a piece of clay you put around the top of your bowl. Once you are done you cut patterns in your bowl. Then you stain your bowl. Staining your bowl means to paint colors on it. After that you glaze your bowl. Glaze means your bowl gets shiny. Then the art teacher fires your bowl to melt the glaze on it. We made the bowls for the empty bowl dinner. The empty bowl dinner is when people eat and when they are done they choose a bowl to take home. I am going to the empty bowl dinner.
