Manistee area students win big at art competition

The 13th Annual Regional High School Art Competition held Sunday at West Shore Community College’s Manierre Dawson Gallery . 

They won first place in three out 11 categories. All in all, students from the county came home with eight prizes.

Truman Lee from Onekama High School won a first-place prize in pottery for “Untitled,” while Joelle Anderson took second place in the same category. 

In painting, Kameron Kott of Manistee High School took first place for “Drake.” Kott also took second place in printmaking for “Night City.”  Jarred Janicki of Manistee Catholic took first place in the printmaking division for "A Light in The Storm."

Manistee High School student Katilin King took first place in photography for “Bike.”

Onekama students took first and second place in the computer imaging category: Parker Sternberger came in first for “How to Save A Life” and Nicole Slater placed second for “El Tango de Diablo.”

Congratulations to all participants who have artwork displayed in the West Shore Community College Regional High School Art Competition including Parker Sternberger who won first place in Computer manipulation, Nicole Slater with second place in computer manipulation, and Truman Lee for first place in pottery. Other artists were Mariah Hunt, Alex Welch, Madalyn Harvey, Logan Place, Carlos Rivera, Mikayla Johnson, and Suchaya Sunantakrnkij "Nook".
