Sixth Graders attempted to Recreate Famous Art. Their report on famous artists are below.

HENRI ROUSSEAU
by Kieran O’Connor

Henri Rousseau was born in Laval, France in 1844. Rousseau spent a short time in the french army. After that he married to Clemence Boiyard. For twenty years he worked as a toll collector, but always found the time to paint.

At the age of forty he retired from being a toll collector and became a full-time artist. He gave art and violin lessons for the rest of his life. He welcomed everyone who came to him- rich or poor, famous or unknown. He died in 1910.

Henri Rousseau did other things besides paint. He wrote poems, plays, and music. Sometimes he would sing his songs.

He painted both inward and outward vision. Some people were attracted by the calmness in his paintings. He drew things from park to the zoos in paris. He often used his imagination to make his own jungles.

Rousseau liked to study animals, children, plants, and flowers. He wasoften called "the master of the trees."

My favorite painting that Henri Rouseau painted is Notre Dame. In that painting he focuses on a church, an ancient bridge that curves over the river sceine, a dark houseboat, and buildings looming like cliffs over the tree-lined river bank. My other favorite is The Sleeping Gipsy.

The Story of Carl Faberg’e
Nick Bradford

Carl Faberg’e was born in 1846 but sadly he died in 1920. Fabeg’e was born in St.Peaters Burg wictch is now calles Leningrad Russia. His father tought him his ealery traing, and his father was a succesful jeweler. Cral loved his work but his best work is the Easter Egg made of gold, sliver, and various gem stones that are native to Russia. The age of 24he took over his family’s business witch he loved very much.

In the love of his business he changed it into a coumpany with the work shop. Czaz Alexander 3 made him an imperial jewler in 1884. He was a exlent jeweler, and scupter, and he loved his work. Later the Soviet government took over his Faberg’e firm. Some time after that he went to Swtzerland where he later died.

Carl art work is very nice expesly his easter Eggs wictch i talked about on my first page. It took him a while to do them but with the lovely work people all over the world started to buy his work. Another good peace is the Russan Winter. It has some people in sleds and horces pulling them.

Another peace is a clock with a whole bunch of little people carved on it. Then there is a clock in the middleof it, and all around it are the little people. The next thing is a horse that is a really pritty red brught like a really red apple. Faberg’e has many other lovely art work that I did not name because he did so much good art work.

JAMES .M. WHISTLER

James Mcniel Whistler if you know him you would know him for the famous picture of his mother, which he called Arrangement in Gray and black. James Mcneil was born in year 1834. Some of whistlers best paintings such as the little white girl and The Whistler Brothers both done in his style, soft colors. Inthe summer of 1902 he became dangerouly ill he died july 17 1903

crepucle in flesh colur ands green. In this painting i see many old ships going uot to sea. it looks like the clouds are going over the water and they never end. Idon’t konow why the water is green but I think it’s the reflction of the sky as the boats go into the sunset. also in the picture i see a dab of color which is on the flag apprently wasping in the wind. Nocturne in black and gold; the falling rocket. in this picture i see fireworks being let of in the night sky and from what it looks like they are being let of from a distant ship or distant land. if look really carefully you can see people that have come to admire the night sky.

Henri Rousseau
Carmen H.

Henri Rousseau was born in 1844. he was born in France. As a young boy he drew pictures in an note book. He developed his own kind of art later in his life.

After service in the army he became a toll collator, but even doing these he found time to draw and paint. In 1893 he retired and devoted himself to painting.

People said his paintings were child like. Such as the sleeping gypsy and Combat of a tiger and a buffalo.. He traveled place to place till he found an apartment.

He used soft little strokes. he used his imagination while he drew. it took many months to make theses pictures. Henri had to studio people, animals, flowers, plants, and other things. He tried to bring sunlight in to the picture so it looks bright, colorful and alive. He loved to draw faraway things.

In 1910 Henri sadly died. The Sleeping Gypsy was all was remembered.

Manet
Ashlee Opdyke

When he was sixteen when he went to Thomas Couture's Studio. That's were he lived in Bohemian Paris. That's where he learned how to paint. Where he did most of his work in Paris. He said that at the studio that he went to were the best days of his life. Alot of people mistake him for Monet. He normally painted people in the neud. He also liked liked to draw people in parks. One of his best paintings were Music In The Tuleries. The paint he used for his paintings were: Cobalt Blue, Lead White, Ivory Black, Vermilion, Naples Yellow,Ultramarine, Chrome orange, Emerald Green,Vrdian. Music in the Tueries. was one of th first truly "modern" paintings of the 19th century. His very first painting was of himself. Another ne of his famos painting was The Fifer. The paint he used was: Ivory Black, Red Lake, Vermillion, Chrome Orange, Naples Yellow, Ultramarine. In the picture there's a boy playing the fife. In the picture the boy looks like he's going to war. He was born on January 23,1832 he died on April 30. It did not say in the book what year he died. In my oppionion this is a very differnt is THe Barque of Dante. It looks like 3 disiples and dead people swarming around them. In these picture he copied some masters so it says. That's why I picked Manet.

LEONARDO DA VINCI
Mara

When I say Leonardo DA Vinci I’m sure that you think one of the best painters, panting gods and goddesses, and ancient heroes. He was born in Italy, and lived with his mom for hi first 4 to 5 years. But that didn’t stop him from living with animals as companions.

Leonardo was born in Italy in April on the 5th. he was handsome, wiry, strong, and had fast hand and eye coordination.

His fist masterpiece was a panting of the Bastism of Christ. This was completed in 1476. In the background is a picture of a girl and a boy kneeling. Showing trees mountain and streams behide them.

He wrote with his left hand could use both. His friend was Amerigo Vespucci. He ate no meat because he did not believe in killing.

Another pitcher was Ginervra De’ Benci. This feathures a picture of a noblewoman with cool colors. With the trees and the ocean in the background.

In 1483 the Virgin of the Rocks. This features three children with an angle. Sitting and Baptising the children. In the background are mountains and a river. This picture has many cool colors and the rocks are warm.

Working wit Verrocchio for a combination of art school, institute of technology, and liberal arts academy. He died on May 1519, but he brought many great paintings into the world.

Leonardo Da Vinci
Sarah Eipperle

Isn’t it weird that Leonardo Da Vinci grew up in Vinci? Da Vinci was born April 15th on Saturday in 1452. As Da Vinci grew up he had a hobbie, it was painting. As he got older he got better at painting.

When Da Vinci grew up he was out of the house and found a home of his own. He found a job and it was famous art work. The characteristics that Da Vinci usedwas light coats of paint, small paint brushes chalk, pastal, pencil, and charco. I think that is a lot of tools to use.

Da Vinci’s art work is very famous. His most famus art work is the Mona Lisa. It is in musiems today. There is this painting that caught my eye. It is in almost all of his books. That means it is very famous. It’s called "The Lady With the Ermine. Da Vinci is very talented. He drew a portit of himself. He is also an inventor. He invented many things like, an army drum, and a surmine.

Da Vinci did a lot of paintings of people, and not animals, and monsters. I think it was just my luck that I drew Leonardo Da Vinci. I’m glad I drew him to. Da Vinci is my favorite artist and inventor. I think he has more talent then any other artist and inventor in the world.
