Ashley O and Jesse G prepare for plaster masks in Art Class. This is going to be FUN!

Tag board surrounds their face to keep the plaster in place while it is setting up. Ashley begins to apply wet plaster to Jesse's face. Luckily neither Jesse nor Ashley suffer from claustrophobia!

Ahhhh! That's what the straws were for. Yes, Ashley's face was completely buried under plaster for 15 minutes. During this time the plaster became warm and a chemical reaction occurred. After that the mask was removed.

These plaster molds were created by Jesse Grenn and Ashley O'Brien. The final molds will be filled with clay slabs and masks from the molds will be further manipulated with extra clay pieces and finally abstracted with glaze and acrylic paint.

Note: Ashley and Jesse are still attending Onekama School. Neither has suffered permanent damage. We can hardly wait to see their finished masks. ...2/2001
