Don told us of FDR's struggle with Polio. He gave an account of how FDR convinced the media not to photograph him in his chair or using his crutches.

Don asked if we thought a wheel-chair bound person could be elected president today. We thought it was possible, but we didn't think the media would agree not to photograph the candidate in their chair!

On many occasions over the past years, Don Stroup has presented historical figures to the ARC members. These first person accounts give us a taste of history at an easily understood level. At the September meeting he told us about our only wheel-chair bound president, Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Other figures he has portrayed include Chief Joseph, John Audubon, and the captain of a Great Lakes freighter that sank near Arcadia.

Thanks Don. We appreciate your continued work for the ARC.
