Don told us of FDR's struggle with Polio. He gave an account of how FDR convinced the media not to photograph him in his chair or using his crutches. |
Don asked if we thought a wheel-chair bound person could be elected president today. We thought it was possible, but we didn't think the media would agree not to photograph the candidate in their chair! |
On many occasions over the past
years, Don Stroup has presented historical figures to the
ARC members. These first person accounts give us a taste
of history at an easily understood level. At the
September meeting he told us about our only wheel-chair
bound president, Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Other figures
he has portrayed include Chief Joseph, John Audubon, and
the captain of a Great Lakes freighter that sank near
Arcadia. Thanks Don. We appreciate your continued work for the ARC. |
